Vidovich Vineyards' Founder, Steve Vidovich

A boutique family business with a pioneering agricultural heritage.

The story of Vidovich Vineyards is the story of Silicon Valley. Our family owned and operated winery works every day to honor our farming roots. The Vidovich family has been in agriculture in the Silicon Valley for four generations – back when the Peninsula was mostly orchards. The family grew apricots, prunes, and cherries in Cupertino and Sunnyvale a hundred years ago.

Our founder, Steve Vidovich, brought this agricultural tradition to the top of Montebello Road when he planted our estate vineyard in 1996. He believed, as we still do today, that if you respect the land, the land will reward you. In addition to making wine, the family grows almonds, pistachios, pomegranates, walnuts, and olives.

Our Vineyards

With an estate located on the hallowed soil of the Montebello wine region in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Vidovich Vineyards specializes in making delicious Cabernet Sauvignon.

The grapes are grown in an estate vineyard at the very top of the Montebello mountain ridge. The vines benefit from cool evening temperatures and long daytime exposure to sunlight. The resulting wine is delicious and satisfying.

The family also operates Lake Vineyards, our sister vineyard in Los Altos Hills.

Our Winemaker: Barry Timmins

Growing up amidst one of the first wine growing regions in New Zealand, Barry was fortunate enough to find his path early on.

After completion of his Oenological training at EIT, Hawkes Bay, he expanded on his knowledge by taking positions throughout Australia, Austria, Canada and America over a 15 year period.

In Mclaren Vale, South Australia, he met his now-wife, who is American. They fell in love over their shared passion for wine and relocated to California.

Barry is excited to be involved in this unique wine region in the Santa Cruz mountains, with its inherent potential to create world class Cabernet, as well as getting to enjoy the spectacular state parks in the area, where you’ll find him quite often during his free time.
