Our Story
The story of Vidovich Vineyards is the story of Silicon Valley. Our family- owned winery proudly honors our agricultural roots that span four generations and began when the valley was mostly orchards. One hundred years ago, we grew apricots, prunes, and cherries on our homestead in Cupertino and Sunnyvale.
Our founder, Stephen Vidovich, brought this longstanding agricultural tradition to the top of Montebello Road when he planted our estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in 1996. He believed, as we still do today, that if you respect the land, the land will reward you. In addition to our vineyards, our family proudly grows almonds, pistachios, pomegranates, raisins, walnuts, and olives.
Our Vineyards
Monte Bello Road
Located on the North Eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Monte Bello Road Vineyard is distinguished by its high elevation of 2450 feet, which provides an unusually long period for grape development. This extended maturation results in intensely concentrated fruit, crafting Cabernets that are complex, well-structured, and quintessentially expressive of their origin. Taste the epitome of mountain viticulture with our Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet, a testament to the profound impact of elevation on wine quality.
Lake Vineyards - Los Altos Hills
Nestled in the serene Los Altos Hills at an elevation of 450 feet, the Lake Vineyard stands adjacent to a picturesque lake, once a bustling quarry. This special location benefits from the lake's temperate influence, creating an exceptional microclimate. Here, our vines thrive, producing a fruit driven Cabernet characterized by its immediate approachability, smooth tannins, and perfectly balanced acidity. Experience the unique terroir of Lake Vineyard, where each bottle captures the essence of its idyllic surroundings.
Our Winemaker
Growing up in one of New Zealand's pioneering wine regions, our winemaker Barry Timmins discovered his calling early.
He completed his Oenological studies at EIT in Hawke's Bay and then honed his skills over 23 years, producing wine across New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Canada, and the United States.
It was in McLaren Vale, South Australia, where he met his future wife, an American who shared his passion for winemaking. The couple eventually moved to California, drawn together by their love for wine.
Now, Barry is thrilled to contribute to the winemaking community of the Santa Cruz Mountains, a region known for its diversity and ability to produce world-class Cabernet. He's also looking forward to exploring the magnificent state parks of California, where he spends much of his free time.
