At an elevation of 2450 feet, our Montebello Road vineyard experiences the effects of a Mediterranean-like climate. The region benefits from southward Pacific currents which originate in the Arctic and regulate the temperature across the Bay Area. Notable temperature fluctuations, with cooler nights and warmer days compared to lower altitudes, are unique to Montebello’s high elevation. Additionally, the uplifting of the San Andreas Fault over 100 million years ago resulted in the accumulation of sea-floor sedimentary material such as limestone, shale and sandstone that helped shape the distinct geological composition. A confluence of these factors established Montebello Road as undeniably one of the most renowned Cabernet-producing regions in the Americas.
